Building

Our facility is located 4200 Granby Street in the Riverview Area of Colonial Place in Norfolk. It opened in 2006 after adaptive reuse renovation that employed green principles throughout construction. The building meets all handicapped accessible requirements. There are five dedicated classrooms plus a library/reading area. We have six restrooms, one to each classroom, in addition to a kitchen.

Skylighting was added to the structure, as part of our effort to use daylighting where possible. We also emply low E light fixtures.

Surfaces were finished environmentally friendly, low HVOC paint, which has no scent. Similiarly, carpeting was installed using zero VOC adhesive.

School Materials

Students and teachers make use of an extensive range of Nienhaus Montessori materials.

Playground

We have a grassed, fenced area on site with a commercial-quality Rainbow play system.

Communication

The building has full wireless coverage, with Internet access in the Lower Elementary room.
