Our mission is to strive to meet the academic, social, emotional, and developmental needs of your child through a Montessori environment, preparing the child to emerge as an independent and confident member of society.
The Montessori Method
Our Montessori early childhood classrooms are designed to meet the needs of the three to six year old child. Beauty and order play important roles in creating the child-size atmosphere carefully designed to encourage curiosity and foster a love of learning.
With Montessori principles as our guide, McDonald Montessori offers each child the opportunity:
*To develop a solid academic foundation and desire for lifelong learning
*To encourage independent decision making and problem solving skills
*To become an integral member of the classroom community
*To develop positive social, emotional, and physical growth in a respectful environment
During the three hour uninterrupted work cycle, a typical day for a young student begins with a greeting and hand shake with the teacher. Then children maneuver the classroom with confidence, exploring concepts in math, reading, writing, geography, science, and activities of daily life at their leisure. Children learn skills in grace and courtesy, naturally caring and teaching each other, respecting the classroom activities, cleaning up after themselves, preparing their own snack, and washing their dishes. The morning concludes when children gather for group to sing songs, celebrate a birthday, hear a story or learn about something new (like dinosaurs or China, for example). Each school day includes active outside play time on our safe and child-friendly play areas.
